If the possibility of suffering is the foundation upon which is built the philosophy of so-called "merciful" abortion and euthanasia, then not one of us is safe from those wielding that bloody sword. Even those wielding it must one day face another wielding it in their direction. Cherry Bieber

February 1997 - Quote from Mother Teresa at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington attended by the President and the First Lady - "What is taking place in America is a war against the child. And if we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?"

KJV Psalm 94:16-23 "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, 'My foot slippeth;' Thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me Thy comforts delight my soul. Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with Thee, which frameth mischief by a law? They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge. And He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off."

"We do not stand any taller nor is there any work we do that is any greater than when we stand strong for the unborn child." Alabama State Senator Greg Reed

Mercy, Not Murder??

Last summer I was collecting signatures for a petition opposing obama “care.”  I had stopped by a local establishment where I am well known.  One of the women there asked me what I opposed most about the health “care” bill to which I replied, “The unprecedented tax-payer forced funding for unabated murder of the unborn and mandated euthanasia “training” for the aging.”

After a few moments, she stated, “I can’t sign that.  I have seen and read too much about child abuse and see too many elderly people wasting away in nursing homes.”

As I stood there absorbing her response, my mind quickly associated it with the memories of the abuse I had suffered as a child.  Without realizing it, (knowing nothing of my childhood), she just told me that it had been better for me to have been murdered in the womb.  In one fell swoop; this woman wiped out (at least in her own supposed pro-choice mind) every ounce of value attributed to my life by my Creator Who formed my inward parts in the womb.  In so doing, she also wiped out the lives (and their God-given value) of thirty-one others whose lives had never been but for mine!

Like a sponge, she has absorbed the propaganda of a “new” kind of “mercy”.  She is known throughout our community as a very benevolent person.  She gives to the poor and warms a spot on the pew twice each week.  Her husband, children, and neighbors adore her.

How does one dole out benevolence with one hand and then financially support murder of the unborn, elderly, and infirm on the other?  Sadly, this woman represents millions throughout the world aboard the runaway train they call “New Mercy,” which stands on the grounds that choice is good…at least for a few.

That's the lovable Left for you! "Better off dead than poor, abused or sick."

And what happens when THEY become the one who isn't wanted? Such a very slippery slope when human life is not honored at any age.

If the woman who spoke to you had really "seen too many elderly people.." she would have felt differently. It's more likely that she hasn't seen ANY elderly people in nursing homes. They are not wasting away. Some are still mentally lucid and those that are mentally challenged still find small pleasures in their daily existence. What right have we to take away their last portion of their lives. Who are we to decide that watching TV or reading magazines is "wasting away"?

Today many families are separated by distance and don't spend the time caring for the elderly that was common in previous generations. I think that the belief in euthenasia is more a self-projected fear of abandonment than it is a reaction to real live elderly people in real nursing homes.

I found your link on your comment on Jill Stanek's blog. :>) !

Thank you, Anonymous. I agree totally.

To be fair, there may be cases in which people don't feel like they have anything to live for, cannot or do not enjoy tv and reading, etc. or aren't "all there" mentally thus making life perhaps less enjoyable. But I don't agree with euthanasia at all. I think if anything they'd benefit from visitors, human interaction. Most are lonely.

I understand where everyone is coming from as a pro-lifer myself, but I would nix the word "murder" as I tried to embrace support. Just as you thought you'd been told you shouldn't have been born, they may have felt like you called them or someone they know a murderer. Not the best approach.

First of all, you are aware you are still lying about both abortion and the elderly? And you realize that lying is a sin? When you blog about your own opinions, make sure that the facts are correct.
My parents had an orchard..it was an ancestral business, they were strong Christian Republicans and planned to enjoy a long retirement. Things were going well until my father had a extremely severe stroke, spent months in and out of both regular & convalescent hospitals & finally was able to EXIST at home. My mother exhausted herself taking care of him, but that is true love.
When she became ill, my dad went to a nursing home just for a few days..he died there. My mother could not even go to see him, but I was in & out..I SAW ELDERLY PEOPLE WASTING AWAY..just lying in a bed, trying to move up & down the halls like robots, very mentally challenged. You have no idea what you are talking about & @Anonymous is doubt referring to a retirement home. That is where my mother died, so I am very familiar with those also.
At a political rally, I spoke to a pro-lifer & asked her a simple question..what do you think would happen if the child lived? She stuttered around about that wouldn't be a problem, they would be adopted or taken in by someone or? Also very familiar to me..I was adopted & the conception of that taking place is beyond belief! And of course, that would result in more elderly people.
What none of you seem to comprehend is that all of this needs to be addressed BEFORE a child is conceived. And, guess what?..I became pregnant & HAD to get married right out of high school, so I understand about this, also.
Instead of acting like holier than thou saints, realize the origin of the problems and deal with them accordingly!

Anonymous,

You seem to want to soft-soap what abortion is. Murder perfectly describes the killing of an innocent child who hasn't even been born yet.

You don't have to call someone a murderer to say that what happens with abortion is murder. You can't be allowed to marginalize it or sanitize it by calling something else; abortion is murder, plain and simple.

In response to anonymous:

Thank you for taking time to comment. I do appreciate hearing from those visiting this blog, as I want to know the thoughts and feelings of others.

My deepest concern with regard to euthanasia is that which would be involuntary or "voluntary under coercion." However, because I believe God is the Author of life and life is not ours to take, I would also do everything in my power to keep someone from committing suicide.

You are correct regarding the need for more human interaction with those who are confined to nursing homes.

As to my use of the word "murder," let us call it what it is. The planned, methodical ending of a human life, no matter what angle we view it from, is murder. True repentance, forgiveness, and healing can only happen when one faces the truth of one's actions.

The woman I mentioned in the article above did in fact state that abused children had been better off aborted, which certainly is a statement of support for the murder of unborn children. She also felt that the elderly had been better off euthanized than to "waste away" in nursing homes. Again, euthanasia is, no matter how we look at it, murder. Sadly, many find it easier to abort "unwanted" children and euthanize "unwanted" elderly than to give them our time and resources.

Anonymous,

It may be someday that someone may find your life to be useless and terminate you!

The elderly do indeed suffer, and we have a very good lady friend in a nursing home who just wants to die, but she trusts in the Lord's timing and in the meantime is a great witness for the faith. It is not our place to end lives by euthanasia.

As for babies, the choice was made to have sex, and one therefore live with the consequences and not kill the child no matter how inconvenient it may be. Taking care of the child is another issue to be addressed at the time of birth, but see difficulty ahead is not a reason to kill the child just to be done with inconvenience.

It is not acting "holier than thou" to preach what God has said, and that is: "Thou shall not murder." He didn't say it was okay if the person was old and invalid, He didn't say it was okay if the child isn't born yet. He said you shall not murder - PERIOD!

In response to JeedBe:

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

You stated that I am lying, but do not say what it is I have supposedly lied about. To what "facts" do you refer?

I can personally relate to the situation with your parents, as I saw my parents suffer also. I have worked in assisted living and nursing homes and the most grievous issue was the lack of family involvement. There is also the issue of over-medication, which often renders them unable to function in a cognitive manner.

You state that you spoke to a pro-lifer and asked, "What would happen if the child lived?" You then criticize her inability to quickly, decisively, and affirmatively answer your question. In so doing, you infer that you know for sure what would happen if the child lived. Do you know? Your question is one that only God could answer. Should we then abort or euthanize on the basis of lack of that knowledge?

Your statement regarding the manner in which you were conceived does not change the fact that you were created by our Loving Father and in Whose eyes you are of great value.

You speak of addressing issues before children are conceived. There are a great many wonderful abstinence programs taking place for the very purpose of encouraging people to not engage in sexual activity outside of marriage. This would bring to a halt children conceived out of wedlock as well as ridding us of STDs.

With regard to your unjust accusation that we [pro-life] are "acting holier than thou..." you might want to read my post "Reasonable Recourse." Those of us defending human life are hardly doing so from an "uppity" position! Quite the contrary, those defending a pro-choice position consider their own lives to be worthy of living, but not the lives of select others. "Coincidentally," those select others always seem to be the most defenseless among us!

What a revolutionary response! Vague but vibrant with all the intensity deserving of someone gallantly leading the charge against those opposed to a position of "merciful genocide!" I'm also genuinely not surprised that she might appear to be "holier than thou" considering the level at which one would be when posturing such rationale as used in your ingenius attack! It may be a tad bit stale, but I wouldn' be discouraged by the fact that these tactics are as old as creation itself. Carry on!
